Leaders around the world are joining the majority of Americans in celebrating Trump’s impending return to the White House following his incredible victory in Tuesday’s election. With the world on edge and wars in hotspots like the Middle East and Ukraine escalating, many are hoping that a stronger and more assertive America will be able to keep things from descending into chaos.

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni posted on Instagram about the strong connection between her country and the U.S., with shared values as well as a strategic alliance that she expects to grow with Trump running the show.

“On behalf of myself and the Italian Government, my most sincere congratulations to the President-elect of the United States, Donald Trump,” she wrote.

French President Emmanuel Macron’s response referred to the successful relationship between France and the U.S. during Trump’s previous term, writing in his congratulatory post on X: “Ready to work together as we did for four years. With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity.”

Macron has already spoken to Trump since his victory, and his office said they had a “very good 25-minute exchange” about trying to restore peace amid a number of major international conflicts going on right now.

Perhaps some of the strongest support in Europe came from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who is known for his outspoken conservative views. He called Trump’s win “the biggest comeback in U.S. political history” and said it was a “much needed victory for the world!”

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that he was looking forward to “working with Trump in the years ahead,” adding that the two nations’ “special relationship will continue to prosper on both sides of the Atlantic.”

Congratulations on Trump’s “comeback” pouring in from around the world

Argentine President Javier Milei celebrated Trump’s incredible comeback, writing “Congratulations on your formidable electoral victory. Now, Make America Great Again. You know that You can count on Argentina to carry out your task. Success and blessings.”

The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, offered more congratulations, calling for Trump’s leadership to be blessed. Elsewhere in South America, the former president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, shared his admiration for the former president and the election’s significance for the world. He wrote a long post full of praise for Trump, calling him a “true warrior” and congratulating him on his “epic victory.”

His post read, in part: “Against all opposition from globalists and the deep state, @realDonaldTrump will return to the Presidency of the United States of America to complete his mission: restore the greatness of his nation, protect the interests of his people, and work toward a world that is freer, more peaceful, and more secure.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his “heartiest congratulations” to Trump, reaffirming the partnership between India and the U.S. He wrote on X: “Together, let’s work for the betterment of our people and to promote global peace, stability, and prosperity.”

Not surprisingly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who depends on America’s support for his war in Gaza and is facing political pressure domestically, was quick to congratulate Trump and what he termed “history’s greatest comeback.” The world leaders have had a mostly positive relationship in the past, and he is clearly hoping the victory will help Israel boost its security.

Another leader in the middle of a war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, offered praise for Trump’s “impressive election victory” and his “peace through strength” approach. He mentioned their September meeting in which they discussed the relationship between the two countries and added that Ukraine is looking forward to seeing a “strong United States of America under President Trump’s decisive leadership.”
